3 tips to stay healthy during the COVID-19 Outbreak

You've read the news. You're afraid of getting COVID-19. So what's next? You need your body prepared. That is what you need. A prepared healthy body. I am very confident that everyone in the world will eventually catch Covid:19. I say, accept that fact peacefully, because you are prepared and therefore the virus will have little effect on your body when it attacks you.
As many of you know, my family and I do mission work in some of the worst places in Africa. Killer germs, flesh eating bacteria, and deadly viruses are something we deal with on a daily basis. A Lot of the sicknesses we deal with are no joke. We often get some serious illnesses while overseas but need to keep moving each day despite being attacked by these illnesses. Here is how we are normally greeted (No social distancing here). It's lovely, but it also brings any and every illness upon us!
Here we are heading to serve a widow with leprosy. We are always greeted with love and lots and lots of bacteria!
Since we have so much first hand experience in this, I wanted to share some tips that have helped us stay healthy in times of trouble. Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
Be at peace
Experts say that stress is the number one immune system killer. They also say that being at peace and happy will significantly raise your immune system to fight off diseases. This is so true! Here are some tips to being at peace during these times.
- Stop reading the news non-stop!
- Trust in God. 1 Peter 5:7 says "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you".
- Focus on helping others. This really works. As you engage in the enjoyment of helping others, you forget about our own worries and fears.

- Be prepared. By doing what you can, and leaving the rest to God, your stress levels will lower and your health will improve.
Prepare Your Body
Your body is a machine designed by God. Just like a car, you must take care of it so it runs smoothly. This is important now more than ever!
- Stay away from Sugars. Refined sugar seriously lowers your immunity. Now is the time to get rid of junk foods that are high in sugar. This will help your immune system as well as your pocket book!
- Drink plenty of water.

Get Plenty of Sleep
Sleep is key to staying healthy. Anyone who is not getting enough sleep knows this. I have struggled with sleep my entire life, and have had some years of insane insomnia! Here are some bedtime tips that help me a lot.
- Listen to a fiction book you enjoy. The key is to listen to something that does not make you think too much. (Set the timer so you can fall asleep)
- Listen to the bible. (Set the timer so you can fall asleep)
- If you wake up in the night, instantly turn the bible on with a timer to help you go back to sleep.
- If you're still having anxiety, pray about it, give it to God, let go and let God so you can sleep while God works.
These are the same things that help me and my family survive the worst places on earth, and I know they will work for you.
So Fear Not, be at peace as you cast your anxieties over to God. Prepare your body. Get Plenty of sleep. Then, leave the rest up to God while you focus on serving others.
